Does anyone have an easy way to comprehend forex quotes?
I wish quotes would be written as 1USD=1.2EUR Bc when i see a fraction in math like 1.2/1 i know that equals 1.2 When you see a quote like EUUSD:1.2000 It makes me think 1.2EUR over 1 USD equals 1.2 EUR. But in reality EUUSD:1.2000 means that 1.2USD is equal to one euro, correct? Can you think of the colon as an equal signs and then multiply both sides by USD to get it to EUR=1.2USD? Has anyone else struggled with this concept?
Hey guys, I want to know a service/site which will give me REAL TIME Live Forex quotes. I have found: https://www.forexlive.com/LiveQuotes but wondering if there's possibly another service with even lesser lag? I remember having seen a system which high volume traders/bankers etc. use which was entirely different than MT4 or MT5 and I wonder if access to that system would be possible, at least for viewing Real Time data. Any help would be high appreciated!!!
CFA forex quotes vs. everything else... are they different?
I can't believe i'm even asking this question but can someone please put my mind to rest. When I see "1.4126 USD/EUR", I interpret that as "1.4126 units of USD for 1 unit of EUR"... or "1.4126 dollars per euro". This would make the EUR the base currency and the USD the price currency. But then I go on yahoo and see "USDJPY=112.9740" and it fu**s with my head everytime. I know that it means 112.974 yen per US dollar, but the fact that this quote puts USD before JPY makes me always second guess my interpretation of other quotes.
Does anyone uses a smart watch to check Forex quotes?
Currently I have to do this every time I'm not near the computer. Reach for my phone on my pocket. Swipe right to unlock. Open the Dukascopy app to check the quote of the pair I trade. Wait a couple seconds for the app to load and display the current price. Doing this several times throughout the whole day gets inconvenient after awhile. Does anyone own a smart watch? Are there apps to display a quote of a single pair? Is it easy, good, fast, convenient? Do you have to push too many buttons to get there? I'd like something that I could check as fast as checking the time.
Road To FIRE - an open source portfolio tracker app
Hello FIRE community, I would like to share with you a portfolio tracker app that I've been working on lately. It's free, open source, takes your privacy seriously and helps you keep track of your assets and rebalancing steps that you need to take on your road to FIRE.
What is Road To FIRE?
It's a portfolio tracker app for your stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds, cryptocurrencies, commodities, P2P loans and real estate. It runs in your browser, so you don't need to install anything. Privacy is important, so all data is stored in your local browser (or your cloud storage account, if you provide one, in order to sync data across your devices). The only data sent to the app server are the symbols for your assets, in order to get their current quotes. It's aimed at passive investors, so no fancy real-time charts or news.
Track your stock, ETF, mutual funds, bonds, cryptocurrencies, commodities, P2P loans and real estate portfolio in one app.
Automatically get quotes for stocks (including Romanian stocks, if there are fellow Romanians here), mutual funds, bonds, commodities and cryptocurrencies.
Summary charts showing percentage left to the goals you set, historic portfolio value, portfolio allocation by asset type, asset geographic allocation, cash allocation by currency, monthly spending limit based on your Safe Withdrawal Rate (SWR).
Steps required to rebalance your portfolio to reach desired allocation.
Multiple currencies supported, and the value is converted to your base currency using latest forex quotes.
Track unrealized profit-loss.
Capital gains statements.
Automatic interest calculation and payment.
Track dividend, rent payments and capital costs (for real estate) to get total return.
Support for recurring transactions that can execute automatically or only after user approval.
Sync across multiple devices using a cloud storage account (Dropbox, Google Drive and RemoteStorage account are supported).
Privacy focused. All data is stored in your browser local storage or your own cloud storage account.
Encryption is available for additional privacy, so your data can't be read even if someone has access to your device or cloud storage account.
Restrict access to application using biometric authentication (fingerprint, face ID, etc) on supported devices.
Can optionally be installed as an app (supported by most mobile and some desktop modern browsers).
Backup / Restore application data.
Can the app connect to my bank?
No, it can't, and this feature won't be added. For one, it's not technically possible, and even if it would, I don't see much benefit for having a portfolio tracker connected to your bank account. I see a great benefit in having that in a budget tracker, but this is not the purpose of the app. I did try however to make the manual addition of transactions as easy as possible. I am open to suggestions and bug reports. If you have any, just post them here, or on Github: https://github.com/iLiviu/road-to-fire/issues To run the app, just go to https://roadtofire.iliviu.me and you are all set.
Looking at the Currency Exchange Rate section in the Schweser Notes, the introduction paragraph for exchange rates cites: "a quote of 1.4126 USD/EUR means that each euro costs $1.4126" Regardless of whether they provided an example with a semi-realistic exchange rate, I'm looking at FactSet forex quotes and see EUUSD at 1.1343, which reads as the exact opposite as the Kaplan example. The dollar is not stronger than the Euro, so I'm definitely reading the FactSet quote properly...
